Bill Kanko Richard Jenkins Matias Galarce Evelyn Huang Alan Forde
Bill Kanko is the founder and President of Black Creek Investment
Management. He has spent his entire career spanning more than 25
years as an investment analyst and portfolio manager. Bill began
managing global equity portfolios for clients of Black Creek in
February 2005.
Prior to Black Creek, from April 1999 to May 2004, Bill managed
global equity portfolios for AIM Trimark (lead manager for Trimark Fund and
Trimark Select Growth Fund, with combined assets of more than $13 billion) and
directed the international investment team. These funds had outstanding performance
during this period, ranking in the top 10% of global equity funds in Canada.
From April 1995 to April 1999, Bill managed mutual funds for Mackenzie Financial
(Universal Growth Fund and Ivy Foreign Equity Fund, with assets of more than $1.5
billion) as an employee of Mackenzie from April 1997 to April 1999 and on a
sub-advisory basis with Bluewater Investment Management from April 1995.
Bill originally joined Trimark in September 1985 as the third, and junior, member of
the investment team, and became a senior vice president of Trimark until August 1994
when he founded Bluewater Investment Management Inc. Prior to Trimark, he was
an investment analyst at Confederation Life Assurance Company from June 1981 to
September 1985.
Bill graduated with an Honours B.A. in Business Administration from the University of
Western Ontario in 1981 and was granted the CFA designation in 1984.
